Program
Tini Tinou International Circus Festival is an important cultural event for Cambodia and the region of Southeast Asia. Cambodia is leading the region in contemporary circus scene. We aim at becoming a hub for circus arts in South East Asia and promote youth social circus initiative around Asia.
Performances
Phare Ponleu Selpak campus and the city of Battambang will be home for performances and full of smiles and lots of fun. The main venue of the festival will be Phare Ponleu Selpak’s campus, where audiences will be delighted at various venues – outdoor stage, artists residency and the 280 seat Phare Big Top.
Workshops & Artists’ Residency
Cambodian circus artists will have an opportunity to collaborate with foreign artists through various workshops and residencies. The results that emerge when different personalities, disciplines, skills, styles and cultures intersect in a unique environment will be showcased through the public during the festival weekend and/or during the week at pop-up street shows.
Workshops are an extraordinary way to transcend cultural barriers, learn new skills and form strong bonds. Giving this opportunity to our Cambodian performers and the international artists who travel a long way to take part in this festival, opens the doors to more working relationships in the future.
Circus Talk
Having a diverse group of international artists together provides for a great opportunity to share ideas and best practices on a range of topics related to circus. Conversation will be presented in 2 formats. Roundtable discussions will be focused on artists and circus professionals, while forums with panelists will be open to the public and special interest groups.
The roundtable will focus discussions on creating north and south support and collaboration networks. The open forums and panel discussions will focus on circus in education and circus as a tool to engage and connect with the communities and cities.
Street Shows and Parade
Street shows are an essential part of the Tini Tinou festival and allow for a direct and intimate connection with people in the city, bringing life to the colonial heritage streets. Artists will have a chance to engage with locals against a unique backdrop and leave them with a sense of awe.
